Position Responsibilities
As a Laguna Medical Systems' (LMS) Outpatient Audit Consultant,
you will conduct coding assessments to help our hospital clients stay on track
with their outpatient compliance goals. You will be responsible for performing
in-depth audits of hospital claims to support CPT-4 and APC assignments
based on clinical documentation. You may also be responsible for validating
HCPCS, revenue coding, and for presenting your overall findings to our clients.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for employment as Outpatient Audit Consultants are expected
to possess the following qualifications:
- Active RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC coding credential;
- A minimum of 3 years recent acute care outpatient CPT-4/APC coding or consulting experience;
- Thorough knowledge of APC methodology, to include
- OPPS regulations published yearly in Federal Register
- Payment assignment by status indicators
- Correct Coding Edits/Initiative
- Appropriate modifier assignment
- Observation Guidelines
- Facility charging processes
- CDM/Revenue code mapping
- Anatomy and physiology
- HCPCS Level II Codes
- Familiar with CMS outpatient compliance guidelines;
- Able to handle overnight travel by car or airplane Monday-Friday,
- MS Windows, Word, Power Point and Outlook experience;
- Able to manage field equipment, including a laptop and portable printer;
- Well organized, detail orientated and able to work independently;
- Above average verbal, written communication and personal interaction skills
